Cultural lag (archive)

Steel, concrete, engraved glass, photo transfer on stone and plaster, paper, ink, plexiglas burnt CD, engraved mdf, data collection and webpage.

2019

Existence is affirmed through perpetual capture: nature into culture into data. All into capital. Organizing information is never innocent.

The starting point for this work has been the various platforms, architectures and techniques of display through which the worlds information is mapped, organized, managed and stored. Concerned with how meaning and history is constructed and values extracted the work explores institutionalization of information and the position of spectatorship, as well as moral questions raised by the constant lag between material and immaterial culture.
